Course AimsInstruct delegates in the basic operation, legislation and safe practical use of lorry mounted cranes.
Training ObjectivesBy the end of the course delegates will have a full understanding of- the employees and employers duties under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, along with PUWER and LOLER, in relation to lorry mounted cranes.
- Identify the basic construction and main components of the both vehicle and attachments.
- Carry out daily inspections and safety checks.
- Understand principles of stability/instability, safe working load and the rated load plate.
- Mobilising/demobilising the vehicle, assess both lifting equipment and load before safely operating the crane.
- Safely and securely park the machine.

Practical- Carry out pre-use checks on the forklift prior to operation
- Assess the load and ground conditions
- Select and inspect the appropriate lifting equipment
- Basic crane signals
- Safely and sympathetically operate the crane
- Ten operational questions
- Final assessment (Theory and Practical)
