Course Aims Refresh delegates in the basic operation, legislation and safe practical use of counter-balance forklift trucks.
Training ObjectivesBy the end of the course delegates will have a basic understanding of
- The employees and employers duties under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, along with PUWER and LOLER, in relation to counter-balance forklift trucks.
- Identify the basic construction and main components of the lift truck and attachments.
- Understand principles of counter-balance, along with stability/instability and the rated capacity plate.
- Assess a load and safely operate a lift truck.
Course OutlineTheory- Appreciation of the duties under the Health & Safety at Work Act for employees and employer.
- Principles of counter-balance forklift trucks.
- Stability and instability.
- Understanding the rated capacity plate.
- Assessing a load and hazardous ground conditions.
- The importance of pre-use checks and maintenance.
Practical- Carry out pre-use checks on the forklift prior to operation.
- Assess a load.
- Safely and sympathetically operate the lift truck.
