Granular Kieserite
The magnesium in Kieserite is completely soluble and available at all pH's [unlike calcined magnesite]; therefore, it is a fast-acting fertiliser for use where readily available magnesium is required. It is used extensively for fertilising root crops like potatoes, where magnesium is often required. It is also used in other crops where a root-crop does not feature in the rotation. For a list of some of the hundreds of fertilisers we produce containing granular Kieserite, see the Magnesium Section on our Products Page or on our Root Fertilisers menu. Powdered KieseriteKieserite is the common name for magnesium sulphate. Powdered Kieserite is refined from Kainit and separated from the raw Kainit ore by electrostatic attraction. It contains 16% [26.6% MgO] magnesium and 22% sulphur [55% SO3]. Because it is a powdery product [just like caster sugar], it is only suitable for use when mixed with a damp salt-containing fertiliser, to which it can stick. Used in its raw state, it requires a specially modified boom 'air' spreader because it is too fine to be spread reliably with spinning disc spreaders. Since it can only be used with damp fertilisers, powdered kieserite is most commonly used to fertilise sugar beet and carrots, both of which require sodium.
