Raw Materials & Straights

DAP typically contains 18% Nitrogen in the Ammonium form and 46% Phosphate. It is sometimes expressed as 18-46-0. DAP is made by the action of ammonia with phosphoric acid, the resulting salt is completely water-soluble.

Because the water-solubility of DAP is very high it is used in both solid and clear-liquid fertilisers. It is often more expensive than MAP so it is not always imported into the UK in every season. MAP is much more commonly used.
