agriCal is a high quality solution containing Calcium, Nitrogen added Magnesium with chelated trace elements-in-balance formulated with surfactants as a foliar spray for use when calcium deficiency is suspected.

Calcium is essential to growth and development of the plant in that it is essential for cell wall structure, the formation of new cells and membrane integrity, necessary to extend produce shelf life.

Many crops are susceptible to calcium deficiency due to lack of availability to the plant, or imbalances with other nutrients. Calcium deficiency is most common in light soils fertilised heavily with ammonium-N or potassium.
Product Information

15% N 21.5% CaO 4% MgO w/v plus chelated Trace Elements

The trace elements are partially chelated to aid uptake by the plant

supplied in 1000Kg stillages or 20 litre containers

Deficiency Diagnosis

Calcium deficiency is the major cause of the following disorders in many crops:

  • Distorted or crinkled leaves with withered or dying tips.
  • Markedly branched roots, which may be brown or discoloured. Death of the root tips may also occur.
  • Leaves may be abnormally dark green.
  • Weak stems due to lenticel rupture
  • Buds and blossoms may shed prematurely.
  • Cracking of fruit.

Tomatoes & Peppers In particular suffer blossom-end rot.
Celery Susceptible to black-heart where deficiency exists.
Apples Commonly exhibit bitter-pit of the fruit in calcium deficient conditions.

Calcium deficiency is generally found following periods of new growth, or during hot dry spells. Therefore timing of application is critical in most cases.

Recommended Application Rates

Directions for use

  • Apply as recommended diluted in 200 - 400 litres of water.
  • Fill spray tank with half the required water. Start the agitator.
  • Add the required amount of agrical into the spray tank and continue agitating whilst spraying.
  • As young leaves are susceptible to scorch, safeguard by applying early sprays at half-strength. Spray more often at lower concentrations where crop is susceptible to scorch.
  • Avoid spraying where ambient temperature exceeds 21 degrees C, or spay at half-strength if essential.
  • Where dosage strength is reduced, increase the number of applications.
  • Ensure good coverage of both fruit and foliage. Do not neglect late sprays .to ensure maximum uptake.

Apples

  • Post blossom to end of June: apply at 4 l/ha at 14 day intervals or more frequently when conditions dictate.
  • June-July apply at 6 l/ha
  • August-harvest apply at 8 l/ha

Cabbage, Cauliflower, Lettuce & Endive

  • Up to 4-6 applications of 3.5-5 l/ha starting prior to head formation to control tip burn

Broccoli

  • Up to 4-6 applications of 3.5-5 l/ha starting prior to head formation to control brown-beard

Brussels Sprouts

  • Apply at 4-8.5 l/ha to control internal browning and improve storage qualitites.

Carrots

  • Prior to strawing: apply at 3 l/ha twice at 14 day intervals.

Celery & Chicory

  • Apply weekly before symptoms arise at 3.5-5 l/ha to reduce incidence of Black heart

Plums & Cherries

  • Apply 3-4 applications of 3.5-6 l/ha starting 6-8 weeks before harvest to control cracking

Cucumber, Peppers, Tomatos & Melon

  • Apply 6-12 applications of 1.5-3.5 l/ha during the season to control Blossom end rot

Potatoes

  • At the early hook stage apply at 2.5-5 l/ha to control Internal rust spot
  • Strawberries, Grapes & Other Berries
  • Make 3 applications of 6 l/ha during the growing season for increased fruit firmness & increased shelf life.

Pears

  • Apply at 4.8-5 l/ha to prevent superficial scald

Poinsettia & Ornamentals

  • Apply fortnightly at 0.4-0.6 l/ha until bract colouration to reduce marginal bract necrosis
