Blended Fertilisers

The Complete Sugar Beet Fertiliser Service from Bunns

  • In most cases, we will undertake soil analysis of fields for sugar beet so we can prescribe a fertiliser for each field.
  • We formulate every fertiliser in each range by working out the optimum combination of raw materials that satisfies the sugar beet nutrient scenario by taking into account the soil texture: mineral, fenland or clay, previoius cropping, manure applications and whether you plan to fertiliser rotationally for subsequent cereal crops.
  • In most cases, we will deliver the fertiliser in bulk to the farm and then spread it on the field using one of our own fleet of spreaders.

Our New-for-2008 Sugar Beet Fertiliser Ranges

Sugar beet fertiliser recommendations changed in Summer 2008 because the farmer-levied British Beet Research Organisation recommended lower fertiliser applications rates at index 2 for both Potash and Sodium.  Rates for Magnesium and Phosphate are unchanged.

As a result we updated our sugar beet fertiliser range to take into account the new BBRO recommendations and in doing so,  simplified our beet fertiliser ranges.

Seven Scenarios

We have identified seven different sugar beet fertilier scenarios

Scenario

Fertiliser Range

Target Customer

Potash

Sodium

1

Very Low Potash Index 0

A sugar beet fertiliser range for light land farmers with low potash reserves without the benefit of organic manures

150 K2O

200 Na2O

2

Low Potash –T70 [Index 1]

A beet fertiliser range reflecting the latest BBRO recommendation but supplying insufficient potash to meet crop removals from T70 beet growers unless organic manures or additional spring potash applied.

100 K2O

200 Na2O

3

Low Potash +T70 [Index 1]

A maintenance beet fertiliser range for K Index 1 land supplying enough potash to meet crop removals from T70 beet

125 K2O

200 Na2O

4

Medium Potash -T70 [Index 2-]

A beet fertiliser for low potash Index 2 soils that does not replace potash crop removals for T70 growers unless additional spring potash or manures are applied and with intermediate sodium requirements

100 K2O

150 Na2O

5

Medium Potash +T70 [Index 2-]

A beet fertiliser that matches potash removals for T70 beet growers with intermediate sodium requirements on

125 K2O

150 Na2O

6

High Potash [Index 2+]

A fertiliser that reflects the latest BBRO recommendations for higher potash reserves on medium to heavy soils but

100 K2O

100 Na2O

7

Kaimag Rotational

Ideal for growers who fertiliser for the sugar beet and the following cereal crop

200 & 250 K2O

150 Na2O

Two Ranges

And within each scenario we now have two ranges of sugar beet fertiliser each with different raw material base ingredients and costs.

Kaimag® Range Sugar Beet Fertilisers

A Premium Kaimag Fertiliser Range based on Kainit benefiting from soluble magnesium, sulphur & trace elements.  Where no magnesium is required, there will not be a Kaimag equivalent.  Kaimag indicates that Kainit is used in the mix.

Our Kaimag® fertiliser range contains magnesium in the soluble sulphate-form from Kainit topped-up with magnesium from cheaper Calcined Magnesite.  As Kaimag fertilisers contain Kainit, they benefit from of soluble Magnesium & Sulphur, which are available at all pH's.

We then add other raw materials, like Triple Superphosphate, Muriate of Potash, Salt, Boron and others.

Oxide Range Sugar Beet Fertilisers

An Economy Oxide Fertiliser Range based on Magnesium from Calcined Magnesite & Sylvinite but containing no soluble magnesium or sulphur.

Our Oxide Fertiliser range is made with magnesium from Calcined Magnesite to which are added salts, and other raw materials like Triple Superphosphate and Muriate of Potash.

Our Oxide sugar beet fertilisers are the cheapest in the range and are suitable if the budget is limited and readily-available Magnesium is not important.

Kainitplus Sugar Beet Fertiliser

There is also a simple but economical Kainitplus range based upon Kainit applied at either 750kgs/ha or 600kgs/ha topped up with with 125kgs/ha Muriate of Potash and/or Triple Superphosphate.

The Kainitplus range of fertilisers is based upon Kainit applied at either 750 or 600 kgs/ha with the addition 125kgs/ha Muriate of Potash and/or Triple Superphosphate.  As Kainit is an unprocessed fertiliser ore, these mixes combine economy with the ability to fortify the fertiliser with potash and phosphate in cases where soil results demand it and organic manures are unavailable.

Boron can be added to any of the above fertilisers to guard against heart-rot.

Sugar Beet Fertiliser Range Simplification

Please note that our Kainsol, Magsol & Universal Sugar Beet fertiliser ranges were discontinued in Summer 2008.   Magsol & Kainsol fertilisers are now only available for Potato fertilisers.
