Foliar Fertilisers

ariboronagriBoron is available as a foliar boron spray in a high concentration solution. The product is fully water-soluble and contains the trace element boron for use when deficiency is suspected. It has the advantage of making boron immediately available to the plant, and is suitable for both soil and foliar applications.

Boron is a trace element essential to plant health and the growth of shoots, roots and particularly growing points. It is of particular importance in the development of foliage and fruit, primarily through assisting the formation of sugars and the reproductive processes as well as the regulation of water within plant cells through its effect on cell membranes.

Product Information

15% boron w/v
6% nitrogen w/v

Deficiency Diagnosis

As boron is water soluble, it is readily leached from light or sandy soils. Deficiency therefore often increases with moisture stress but may also occur in dry periods after heavy rains. It may also occur in soils with low organic matter content and a pH above 6.5. The following crops are most susceptible to boron deficiency
  • Apple
  • Broccoli
  • Cauliflower
  • Carrot
  • Celery
  • Oilseed rape
  • Red beet
  • Sugar beet
  • Sunflower
  • Swede
  • Turnip
Where boron is deficient, cell division does not proceed normally so there are effects in growing points where tissues become distorted and eventually die. This can lead to loss of apical dominance, development of side shoots and a bushy appearance to the plant. Deficiency also affects pollination and seed set.

Recommended Application Rates

Apply in a minimum of 200 l/ha water. To be used only where there is a recognised need. Do not exceed the appropriate application rates

Sugar Beet, Fodder Beet & Red Beet

  • Pre-emergence: apply at 5 l/ha to soil containing less than 0.8mg/kg (ppm)
  • 6—8 Leaf stage: apply at 3 l/ha where deficiency exists. Apply as a 2 spray programme (1 soil & 1 foliar, or 2 foliar sprays)
  • 2-3 weeks later before crop meets across rows: apply at 3 l/ha as part of a 2 spray programme
  • Oil Seed Rape
  • Autumn Application: apply at 3 l/ha where deficiency exists before winter dormancy.
  • Stem elongation: apply at 3 l/ha where deficiency exists [a maximum of two sprays.]
  • Flower bud hidden stage: apply at 3 l/ha where deficiency exists [a maximium of two sprays.]

Carrots & Brassicas

  • 6-8 Leaf Stage: apply at 3 l/ha where deficiency exists. apply as a 2 spray programme.
  • 2-3 weeks later: apply at 3 l/ha where deficiency exists, apply as a 2 spray programme.
  • Top Fruit
  • After petal fall: apply at 2 l/ha where deficiency exists as part of a 3 spray programme.
  • 2-3 weeks later: apply at 2 l/ha where deficiency exists as part of a 3 spray programme.
  • 2-3 weeks later: 2 l/ha Repeat application.
