Lucie’s Life Saving Project, The East Anglian Air Ambulance and the domestic abuse charity Leeway are good causes for which Norfolk Young Farmers have chosen to raise money. On Monday 3rd May, members aim to raise £6000 by pulling a tractor around the Royal Norfolk Showground from 9 am to 9 pm and Bunns is proud to sponsor the attempt.

The charities chosen have touched the hearts of members. Lucie Proctor was a very active member of Norfolk YFC, who, tragically, collapsed and died in 2008. The Life Saving Project, set up in her memory, aims to raise money for hospital equipment and first aid training. The members have benefited, with all clubs being provided with training for first aid and a first aid kit. Young Farmers Club members generally work in rural areas and many work in agriculture, an industry with one of the highest rates of death and serious injury in the UK.

The Air ambulance, which celebrates a decade of service, is an invaluable asset to our members and their families. Leeway, a Norfolk based charity, which supports women and children who have suffered from domestic abuse spoke recently to Diss YFC. Every week the clubs have a meeting with a speaker or an event. They were so touched by the talk that they decided to advocate Leeway as a recipient for the fundraising.

The tractor which members will pull is a vintage machine, the ‘Model B’ John Deere, these green and yellow tractors were built between 1935 and 1952. This machine is being supplied by agricultural machinery dealership Ben Burgess and Co whose managing director, Ben Turner, is this year’s Norfolk YFC President.

The Full Pull is being organised by all 12 Norfolk Young Farmer Clubs led by County Chairman Helen Reeve. Andrew Spinks, County Press Officer, and Sarah Ellero, County YFC Publicity Officer.
